We hardly had any time left in Kenya but we did have enough time for giraffes!  The Giraffe Centre has a high observation platform for feeding the giraffes.  The kids and Heidi loved this.  All three of them fed giraffes with their mouths – yes, they kissed giraffes.  Heidi did it three times because the camera misfired.  We did get the picture plus one with a long strand of drool connecting the two of them.
The flight went without incident.  Yemi, the tour leader met us at the airport and took us to her apartment where we are staying.  It is a new seeming steel-reinforced concrete building.  You can hear all the neighbors.  Still we are so glad to be together and not in separate hotel rooms.  We hope that these exceptional circumstances do not inconvenience anyone else.  At the same time we know that this segment of our travels is an expensive one.
I finally feel like a pilgrim and still a tourist of course.  We got up before 5:00 p.m. this morning to worship at Trinity Cathedral for a four hour service that began at 5:30 a.m.  I wish I could fully convey my experience of this.  The steps of the church were lighted like a nightclub and outdoor speakers loudly broadcasted the celebrant’s voice into the night.  As we drove we saw other people walking to church on the streets.
