While we have been packing away all the Christmas ornaments, the conflict between Ethiopia and Somalia has intensified. I don’t know what this will mean for our trip. Maybe we’ll have to go to St. Catherine’s Monastery instead. Our pilgrimage to Lalibela in Ethiopia for the Feast of the Epiphany was the reason we planned all of this. Our fellow Ethiopia travelers don’t leave for another few weeks. We’ll probably rely heavily on their judgment as we decide what to do. We took the picture above yesterday on self-timer at Point Lobos south of Monterey. Africa seemed so far away from the wedding celebrations at the Highland Inn.
